I (and many others) use the term, ‘disharmony’ quite a lot, but what does it mean?
It’s a generic word to link anything that throws the body off its normal balance or routine and can often create an unwanted routine. What’s not so common is what we classify as a disharmony. Some typical examples that could be classified as disharmonies are:
Neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain, IBS, insomnia, grief, knee pain, migraine, tension, headache, period pain, PMT, stress, unhappiness, worry, limping, injury
Of course there are many more different types and events that can be called disharmonies, but the point is that something just isn’t right. It doesn’t have to be just disturbed sleep patterns or digestive disorders…anything that isn’t smooth running can be a disharmony.
What causes these? Living. Plainly put going through life can throw us off balance. The body has a remarkable ability to handle stress in moderate levels, but when it is constant, sudden or there is just too much then the body and mind react. Whether it is a car accident, a bereavement, work stress, tripping on the pavement, problems at home or with childhood etc…they all result in the same thing…disharmony.
Disharmony manifests in so many different ways according to the trigger, the person, the situation etc that the effects can often feel totally separate from the cause. A good example is fear or shock. Both of these can weaken the back as much as trying to lift a heavy weight badly or taking a tumble while skiing.
Through Shiatsu I will aim to try and find the cause of these disharmonies to help restore the balance.
If you think I can help then why not contact me and I will be more than happy to discuss what we can try and do together.
